2001 at Kohat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan by the governor, Lt. Gen. Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah. Over these 16 years or so, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) has progressed remarkably well, both in terms of human resources and physical infrastructure. Not only KUST has succeeded in erecting buildings with imposing views, accommodating modern classrooms and laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies but has also established a vibrant academic environment driven by research and innovation. KUST has attracted and retained world-class faculty dedicated to teaching and research.
The first Vice Chancellor of the university was Prof. Dr Sher Ali Khan Shinwari (Late). The university is ranked No. 22 in the General category of HEC rankings.
